CCT Portland

Coming Summer 2025!

CCT Portland presents "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" and will run for one weekend only at the Sherwood Center of the Arts with 4 performances on August 15-17, 2025. 

Anyone aged 8 and older is welcome to audition for CCT Portland, regardless of prior CYT experience. 

Open Auditions: Friday, July 11th 3:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Closed Dance Auditions: Saturday,  July 12th 8:15 am - 11:00 am
Closed Vocal/Drama Callbacks: Saturday, July 12th 11:30 am - 2:45 am (Invited cast auditioners)
Rehearsals: are held at NCC - Tigard on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday evenings from 6:00 pm - 10:00 pm and Saturdays 9:00 am - 3:00 pm July 15 through August 9th. 
SCA Theater load-in: is Sunday, August 10th with Tech Week the 11th - 14th 6:00 pm - 10:00 pm.
Shows: 8/15, 8/16 & 8/17
Strike & Party: 8/17
Production teams meet on Saturdays to design the show.

Introducing our Director - CYT Co-Founder Paul Russell!

Paul and Sheryl are the co-founders of CCT and CYT in 1980. CYT has grown to the largest youth theater program in the nation with programs in over 23 cities. Each year over 20,000 children are receiving training in the arts which draw an audience of over 300,000. CYT also conducts hundreds of summer camps across the country as well as in China and Uganda.

Paul has a Doctorate in Education and has taught at both the high school and college level for 45 years. His writing credits consist of 10 full length children's musicals including Secret Garden, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, Little House on the Prairie and Little Mermaid. Paul has also written three instructional books on Readers' Theater and a new book, Break a Leg: And Other Lessons I Learned in Theater. 

Paul and Sheryl have been married since 1974 and have four adult children and 10 grandchildren and live in San Diego, California. 

About CCT Portland

CYT Portland has opened a new community theater program called Christian Community Theater (CCT Portland). CCT Portland produces one full-length, Broadway style musical each year.

Christian Community Theater is a program of CYT that allows adults to have the same positive, uplifting theatre experience that our youth students have. CCT upholds the same values as CYT.

How to Audition for a CCT Show

1. Create a Family Account if you don't already have one 
  • Click on the person icon on the top right corner of our website
  • Click on “Create New Account”
  • Fill out the info required for your user profile

2. Choose an Audition time slot
  • Once logged in to your Family User Account, select the "Tools" drop-down menu next to your name, and then select the "Auditions" menu item.
  • Click on the blue "+ New Audition Appointment" button.
  • Select the "Audition for Show" option. Then select "show" and choose 12:00am audition time slot. (Note: you will get a message on your account referring to "Open Auditions" but please know that these are closed auditions.)
  • Check your email to receive the link to the audition form. You must read and agree to all requirements and expectations in the CCT Production Manual (found under pdfs on this page)*Coming Soon

3. Final Steps
  • Complete and submit your audition form.
  • 18+, complete our background check consent from and online child safety training.
  • Submit a production team form.
  • Audition slots will not be assigned until the above steps are completed
Important Info:
  • Anyone 8+ may audition (must be 8 years old by auditions)
  • Friday Auditions will be open for all who are auditioning to watch. They will not be open to the general public. Saturday Dance Auditions & Callbacks are closed.
  • Thoroughly review the Production Manual and all the production requirements for cast.
  • Cast member accounts will be charged a production fee
  • Log in to your account to pay your production fee within 24 hours of being cast to accept your role
